This may take 10 minutes or longer for the first use. Once saturated, light the wick and enjoy. The 6mm thick cotton wick burns slowly and will last for 100+ hours. This truely is a low maintenance and sustainable lamp. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eNOTE: use pure or light olive oil rather than extra virgin olive oil, as EVOO is thicker and contains more natural minerals that can create a dull or flickering flame.
